KnowledgePool awarded Online Course of the Year

¬†KnowledgePool’s online computer based training (CBT) course developed with the Scottish Agricultural College has been awarded “Online Course of the Year” by The Institute of IT Training, beating entries from SmartForce, NETg, LearnFish and Educational Multimedia. The Awards – presented last night at a glittering ceremony at The Dorchester Hotel in London’s Park Lane – are highly prized throughout the industry. Part of a ¬£100,000 e-Learning contract for students and staff of the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC), the programme includes a series of web-based learning units and an interactive model of a virtual farm, giving online users the chance to plan crop rotations, evaluate problems and introduce changes to the farming system. The service also allows postgraduate online students to study organic farming at a time and place which is convenient to them and is also available to farmers to support their continuing professional development. David Wimpress, executive chairman of KnowledgePool, commented after he had collected the Award, “KnowledgePool and SAC are delighted to win this Award and be recognised for this unique e-Learning programme. There is little doubt that creating an e- Learning programme to teach organic farming is an effective demonstration of the application of new learning technology alongside traditional farming methods.”
