Knowledgepool’s New template delivers Lloyds TSB’s fastest-ever implementation of e-learning

A partnership between learning services company KnowledgePool and e-learning specialist Maxim Learning has enabled Lloyds TSB to plan, develop, test and implement an hour-long e-learning course in less than three weeks. The bank’s fastest-ever implementation of e-learning was made possible by Maxim’s creation of a Lloyds TSB-specific e-learning template. This has dramatically cut the six weeks of testing that the bank usually undertakes when it adds learning content to its intranet. The e-learning course was created to help 30 specialists in the bank’s Wholesale and International Banking business learn the basic principles of how to calculate interest and pass charges. KnowledgePool developed the content for the e-learning course, after undertaking a training needs analysis to scope and define the task. Maxim then combined its leading edge template technology with instructional design and creative treatment expertise to create the e-learning. “As the course was being built we were able to review and amend the content in a Word document, using Tracked Changes,” said Val Laycock. “The template enabled the script in the Word document to be lifted and dropped in to the course.”

KnowledgePool produced slides and trainer notes for a face-to-face workshop, which supplemented the e-learning course and was delivered at Lloyds TSB’s Corporate Customer Service Centre in Gillingham. The company also produced workbooks which are offered to staff as an alternative to the e-learning course. Lloyds TSB has now asked KnowledgePool and Maxim to create more e-learning courses using the template, starting with new software application training. “The template gives us the ability to quickly build and implement e-learning on our intranet,” said Val Laycock. “Potentially, this could help us meet a wide range of training needs.” KnowledgePool has been a preferred supplier of Lloyds TSB since 2001. It provides training needs analysis studies for the bank and it has designed and developed blended learning programmes, involving e-learning resources, participant workbooks, videos, online reference resources, teaching aids for Lloyds TSB trainers and coaching programmes. KnowledgePool has worked closely with Maxim since 2001 to create e-learning for Lloyds TSB. “We have a very well established working relationship,” said Val Laycock. “They consistently provide a very high standard of service.”

“We have very strict technical standards for putting content on our intranet and everything has to be thoroughly tested. This course is built on an innovative template, so once the template was signed off, we were able to simplify the testing and this made the whole development process much quicker and easier.”
